The beginnings and achievements of BTS
After the group was formed, the group’s debut took place on June 12, 2013, when they released their debut album “2 Cool 4 Skool”. The first song from this album to be released that day was “No More Dream”, which managed to captivate South Korean audiences to such an extent that BTS won Artist of the Year at Melon Music. This isn’t the only accolade BTS has earned in its first year. Later that year, BTS received the Gold Record for Best New Artist. Later, in 2014, they also won the prestigious Seoul Music Award.
BTS released their first mini album with just 10 tracks as O!RUL8,2?, while the second school trilogy mini album was released on February 12, 2014, titled “Skool Luv Affair.” The album’s title track, “Boy in Luv”, was another hit that managed to crack the top 3 on Billboard’s World Album Charts. After mesmerizing the South Korean population with their first blockbuster performances, BTS flew to Japan on April 23, 2015, for their first-ever Japanese album whose original songs were translated into Japanese. The second album “Wings” was released by BTS in 2016, breaking the record for “Best K-Pop Album” and best seller, an honor that was previously held by 2NE1. Wings” also earned the boy band their second Daesang Award for Artist of the Year at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

After making a name for themselves in major countries around the world, BTS took another step when they became a successful singer in the United States. The Bangtan Boys qualified for the Billboard Music Awards held on May 21, 2017.
The track “Spring Day” from their new album “You Never Walk Alone” topped the South Korean charts immediately after its release, and its music video received more than 9 million views in 24 hours.
The seven-member South Korean band also collaborated with The Chainsmokers’ Andrew Taggart on a track called “Best of Me.” BTS also managed to become the first K-pop boy group to earn a spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 after releasing the single track “DNA”.
BTS’ other collaborations consist of “Mic Drop”, a remixed version which was prepared with Steve Aoki, and which reached number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100. Japanese versions of “DNA” and “Mic Drop” were also made.
BTS was the guest of honor at the American Music Awards in 2017, becoming the first K-pop group to perform at an awards ceremony. Additionally, the boy band had the privilege of joining Ellen on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” that same year.
In 2018, BTS achieved its first-ever double platinum certification in Japan and two gold certifications in the United States. Love Yourself: Tear” also became the most popular album on the Billboard 200, while “Fake Love” reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Bangtan Boys also performed live at the Billboard Music Awards 2018 and managed to get their hands on the award for best social artist, for the second time in a row.
